Embracing a biodynamic lifestyle means proactively cultivating the health of your mind, body, spirit, and environment. When any of these are out of balance your health will suffer. Achieving balance takes daily care; part of life’s journey is the pursuit of such balance in order to gain optimal life expression. 

We believe that the planet is experiencing a paradigm shift. A more vitalistic philosophy and mindset is awakening, fostering a culture that considers entire ecosystems as a whole rather than the sums of their individual parts. Ecosystems range from your local community to the diverse ecosystem of your mind and body. Pollution of the community damages the mind and body of its residents, just as pollution of the body destroys the well-being of its parts. Therefore, the health of your external environment is just as critical as the health of your internal environment.

It is said that the spirit is the connection between mind and body; when one of these elements is out of balance, health is diminished. The founder of chiropractic said, “Life is but the expression of spirit through matter. To make life manifest requires the union of spirit and body.” All living things possess an innate intelligence to self-heal; however in our fast-paced society the intuitive inner voice is drowned out. Constant bombardment by social media, sensationalist headlines, and the stresses of life have led many people to ignore their inner voice even when it is screaming warning signs at them – warning signs that are too often silenced by drugs and surgery. Now is the time to reawaken that inner wisdom and trust the intuition of the body. Now is the time for you to seek balance and overall wellness. 

Action Steps to Living a Biodynamic Lifestyle:

1. Eat sustainable, local, organic food. By doing this you will support your community and ensure a healthy planet for future generations. You will also create a sustaining environment for your body without the harmful risks that conventionally grown food possesses.

2. Practice mindfulness. This can be achieved through daily meditation, yoga, exercise, journaling, or a variety of practices. Take time each day to truly experience your breath and check in with your body. Ask yourself “How am I doing today?” Find out what your body needs. Do you, for instance, need to drink more water this particular day? Could you benefit from a power nap? Ask questions of your body and listen to what it is telling you!

3. Introduce movement. Reconnect with your mind and spirit through movement. This can be a walk, dancing, yoga or whatever you enjoy. The body was designed to move, not sit in front of a screen all day! Walking alone provides needed hydration for the discs in your spine and helps to lubricate the joints of the body. It ensures proper blood flow and delivers oxygen to every cell in the body. Often these movements can be combined into an almost “chop wood, carry water” meditation and allow for you to get in touch with your spiritual and physical self.

4. Most importantly, have your nervous system checked by a chiropractor. The nervous system is the master system of the body and regulates every cell, tissue, organ, and system in the body. It is how you experience every aspect of your life, from the food you eat to the music you listen to. The nervous system can be interfered with when there is a spinal subluxation (misalignment) of the spine. Chiropractic adjustments restore movement and function to the spine and remove interference from the nervous system. Research shows that adjustments enhance the function of the immune system, because it is regulated by the nervous system, so people who get adjusted regularly are less likely to get sick. You can eat the best food and do everything “right” but unless you are having your spine adjusted by a chiropractor, there will be a piece missing. 

Taking time each day to reconnect with your spirit through eating real food, a practice of mindfulness, and daily movement will ensure a longer and healthier life. Regular chiropractic adjustments will allow your nervous system to function at its highest level and thus the body will be able to self-heal and self-regulate. All these suggestions will assist you in learning to listen to your inner voice again. This inside-out approach will lead you to live a life that is fulfilling and full of vitality. When your mind, body, spirit, and environment are in balance you can fully tap into the infinite wisdom of the body and universe in order to live a more meaningful life.
